Renewable Energy Access for Communities and Households
NEW DATE ADDED - WEDNESDAY 27 MARCH 2024 AT 2PM - ANGMERING COMMUNITY CENTRE, BN16 4FU
Successful events have taken place in both East Preston and Angmering during the evening in March 2024. Comments were received about holding one during the day - one has now been scheduled.
Action to reduce energy costs and combat climate change in Angmering
As parish councillors, we are all too aware of:
• Rising energy costs and their impact on residents and business; and
• Climate change, how hard it is to green our households and decide what action to take
In response to these concerns, we have been working with West Sussex County Council and others on a plan to provide solar panels to residents at no upfront cost.
Our plan takes into account many of the barriers people face when trying to take action on climate change, such as:
• Not having enough money
• Not knowing what action to take, and
• Not knowing what technologies and suppliers are best for their situation.
What have we done so far?
We have:
• Conducted a geospatial survey of Angmering to assess the potential for solar power in the parish
• Developed a plan with West Sussex County Council to pilot this in East Preston and Angmering
Next steps
We are:
• Holding another public launch event on the 27th March
• Applying to the Community Energy Fund for project development funding
Our EXTRA launch event
‘Reducing energy costs and combatting climate change in Angmering’
Wednesday 27 March, 2pm, Angmering Community Centre, Foxwood Avenue, BN16 4FU
At this event, we will:
• Introduce the REACH Project (REACH stands for Renewable Energy Access for Communities and Households)
• Explain how the project will work in practice
• Ask those who are interested in participating in the project to express an interest in participating and join our mailing list
